Post Common Questions
Q: I have firmware v1.9.9.4 can I 'jailbreak' my iSpot?
A: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Real Answer: All iSpots run firmware 1.9.9.4 at the moment, the software version is what matters. (At the moment all iSpots can be jailbroken) See http://ispotunrestricted.com/?p=94 for more information.

Q: Will this void my warranty or contract with Clear?
A: Maybe, I'd assume yes. However here is an official response from the Clear forum about the site as of December 21st, 2010. http://ispotunrestricted.com/clear.png

Q: Do I need an iDevice to use this?
A: The older 'jailbreak' mods, required a PC or Mac to upload a config file or firmware to the iSpot device. However the new 2.0 version just requires a device with wifi (ie. iPhone/Android/etc). However, it is recommended that you use an iPhone or other iDevice.

Q: I tried the new 2.0 jailbreak and get an error like "Connecting to ispotunrestricted.com (67.213.218.3:80) wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 307 Temporary Redirect". Why is that?
A: The iSpot is either not online, or you do not have an active Clearwire account. Double check to ensure that it is online and try again.

Q: Where can I find the drivers for tether mode?
A: Make sure you are connected to your iSpot and goto http://192.168.1.1/html/rndis.html

That's it for now, if you have any questions that haven't been answered here, let us know and we will update the post. Thanks.

Post Unable to access the Internet via iOS or MacBook Pro
I had earlier (months ago) uploaded the .bin configuration file to jailbreak my iSpot. It worked fine until now.

At present I'm not able to access the Internet using iPhone, iPad, or MacBook Pro. Safari shows that I'm connecting to the ISP but not to the Internet.

I am able to access the iSpot settings over WiFi but can't get out to the Internet. Here is what I'm seeing:
-> Under WiMax Connection the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS Server, etc are all showing: N/A
-> Firmware info: Software Version 2.0.0.0 (R1679 (Jul 6 2010 17:57:37), Firmware version 1.9.9.4
-> WiMax connection status: Scanning

I tried re-uploading the .bin configuration file. It uploaded successfully but no change in behavior.

When I try following the instructions for iSpot Unrestricted 2.0 using my iPhone, I do see the Clearwire Logo. However, when clicking the logo I get the message:
wget: bad address 'ispotunrestricted.com'

Need some help re what to try next.

Post Re: Common Questions
Okay, I understand that if I get "caught" having jail broken my iSpot, it'll void my warranty and break their acceptable use whatever. But my question is, CAN they catch me? I was thinking about using this as my main Internet service at home. Is that goin to raise red flags? Presently I stream music with it at work all day, so I doubt the data use will spike too much. Does anyone know anybody who got caught? What tipped them off?
